It’s easy to take silence for granted. After all, when was the last time any of us experienced true and absolute silence? Is there a way to document silence? With a 35mm film camera, a tripod, and a bathroom darkroom, I photographed the ‘silence’ that occurs when the sun goes down. Areas that were once densely packed with cars, people, and noise during the day become empty urban landscapes; leaving plenty of room for thought and contemplation. Silence can evoke many emotions. Some feel at peace, while others can feel a sense of loneliness. These photos are intended to evoke the emotions you associate with silence, whatever they may be. What follows is a series of images contemplating silence.
